Funfetti Milkshake
This homemade Vanilla Bean Funfetti Milkshake is very simple but looks so delicious and tastes so yummy. Kids will go mad for this when you decorate the glass or mason jars in funfetti add whipped cream, drizzle with chocolate syrup and add a stick of marshmallows. Delicious.
I do make these quite a bit for the kids on hot summer days but sometimes I don’t get very fancy with the jar, but for guests or a birthday party then definitely add the sprinkles around the rim and add the marshmallows.
Ingredients needed to make this Funfetti Vanilla Bean Milkshake!
Here is everything you will need to know how to make the Funfetti Vanilla Milkshake Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 48 oz of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
- 6-8 Tbsp Milk
- 1 cup Hershey Syrup
- 2 c Whipped Cream
- 8 Marshmallows
- 16 oz. Vanilla Icing (for rim of glass)
- Funfetti Sprinkles
How to make the Funfetti Milkshake
- In a blender add in your tub of vanilla bean ice cream. Blend the ice cream until it’s really smooth.
- Once the ice cream has a smooth consistency, add in 6-8 tablespoons of milk. Blend the milk into the ice cream until it is incorporated in the ice cream
- We love a thicker milkshake. BUT if you prefer a runnier milkshake then you would want to add more milk.
- If you are using a Ninja like we did, remove the blade and add in your sprinkles. We used 3/4 of a 9 oz bottle of sprinkles for this recipe. Fold the sprinkles in with a spoon or spatula.
- Grab the glasses that you are using, we used mason jars as I love the look of them but you can use any glasses you prefer.
- Prepare the tops of them. I forgot to take pictures of this step but you can always watch the video below to see exactly how we did this step.
- Anyhow, using a spatula spread the icing on the top of the glass. Using a flat plate dip your glass in the sprinkles until all the icing is covered.
- Fill your glass until nearly full. You’ll want to keep some room in the cup for the whipped cream.
- Top your Funfetti Vanilla Milkshake with canned whipped cream. You can use the tub stuff, but I think the canned comes out looking prettier!
- Drizzle the top of the whipped cream with chocolate syrup. We repeated this step twice so that you can a taller effect of the whipped cream (a little food styling trick for you all!).
- Using a wooden skewer place the marshmallows on skewer, using as much or as little as you wish! Then add your straw and you are ready to enjoy your Homemade Funfetti Vanilla Ice Cream Milkshake.
Recipe notes and tips
While the recipe is straightforward, it is always nice to have a few different tips and suggestions to make things easier. So here are some of the recipe notes and tips to help you out:
- DO NOT mix your sprinkles with the blade of your blender. This will turn the color of your ice cream and it won’t look so pretty!
- If children are helping, please make sure they are supervised when using the blender, they will be so excited to make these Funfetti shake, but please supervise
- Marshmallows are not always necessary, if you want to cut down the sugar then try a cocktail umbrella, or these colorful spoon straws
- If you are making these for a special occasion then unfortunately they cannot be pre-made so give yourself plenty of time at the event to get them made -they will be worth it
Variations to try
Like with many recipes there will always be variations to try, Here are a few suggestions for you:
- Something that is quite popular at the moment is funfetti cake batter milkshake, they say they taste just like a cake. I haven’t had time to try it just yet but I will definitely soon as I love cake too.
- You could freeze the ice cream once you have mixed it and use it as a sundae instead of a milkshake – still add the whipped cream and chocolate fudge sauce.
- If you are looking how to make a vanilla milkshake then this might be the perfect way, you can omit the funfetti if you want it just plain vanilla.
FAQs
Like with any recipe, there are often questions that need answering. I thought I would share some of the common questions here, but if you have any comments or questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch directly.
Can the Funfetti Milkshakes be made ahead of time?
Probably not, it really needs to be made and eaten straight away BUT you could mix it up and then freeze until guests arrive but I don’t think it will taste as good.
Do they have to be served in Mason Jars?
No, you can use any jar you like, maybe something smaller if you are worried about the kids having too much sweet stuff. I just love the look of them in the mason jars.
Enjoy your Vanilla Funfetti Milkshakes.
